In June, the first residents of WohnArt3, a cross-generational housing project in Kranichstein, move in. With the construction of this first passive house, bauverein AG is also breaking new ground. In November, the project takes part in the Darmstadt Passive House Day.

After around a year of construction, the refurbishment of the residential buildings at Moltkestrasse 27-37 has been successfully completed. The major refurbishment is part of the large-scale modernisation concept for the former "Postsiedlung" and contributes to a considerable reduction in energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Following the modernisation of the residential building at Grundstraße 31/33 in 2009, bauverein AG and the city of Darmstadt are having the outdoor area of the complex redesigned as part of the federal and state programme "Socially Integrative City Darmstadt-Kranichstein". A play area is also being designed with the help of children from Grundstraße, the nearby Erich Kästner School and the Jägertorstraße day nursery.

In autumn, two bauverein AG buildings - the Neufert-Meisterbau and the Old Town Hall - are designated as "cultural assets worthy of protection". The award, in accordance with the Hague Convention, is intended to protect against "destruction, damage, theft, looting and unlawful seizure" in the event of war. The extensive renovation work on the Old Town Hall had been completed shortly beforehand, meaning that the Renaissance portal now shines in new splendour once again.

With the active participation of tenants in Eberstadt-Süd, bauverein AG is developing a long-term action plan to upgrade the neighbourhood. This includes the major refurbishment of the Kirchtanne 6 building and the redesign of Kirnberger Platz, as well as the construction of a crèche in Stresemannstrasse. The childcare centre will be run by the AWO and will provide space for 46 children under the age of three. The topping-out ceremony will take place in September.

With the elections to the Tenants' Advisory Board for what is now the twelfth term of office (2010 - 2015), bauverein AG is continuing a tradition that began in 1972. The new tenants' advisory board is made up of eight advisory boards for the Darmstadt district and two advisory boards for the North Hesse district. A new feature is the establishment of four working groups in which tenant advisory councils and representatives of the company work together to develop solutions for important housing-specific issues.
