WohnArt3

WohnArt3 is the name of bauverein AG's first passive house project, which will be realised between 2008 and 2010 in the K6 development area in Kranichstein. The passive house residential building is being built in co-operation with the future tenants, who are members of a registered association. The 14 publicly subsidised and 30 privately financed flats create space for intergenerational living under one roof.

Rheinstraße 65 in new splendour

With the handover of Rheinstrasse 65 to the new tenant, the Institut Wohnen und Umwelt (IWU), bauverein AG completes the energy-efficient refurbishment of the former district administration office in May. The building, which was remodelled in close cooperation with the IWU, is the first office building in Darmstadt to be renovated to passive house standards.

Chairman of the Executive Board extended

The completion of a crèche in Stresemannstrasse further improves the childcare situation in Eberstadt-Süd. The crèche, built by bauverein AG, has spacious interior rooms and will be run by the AWO on behalf of the city in future. It will look after 46 children aged between one and three years.

Stakeholders are consulted

The city of Darmstadt, the tenants of bauverein AG, owners, tradesmen and architects, as well as the media - as stakeholders of bauverein AG, they all have very different expectations of the company's management. In order to find out what these groups and interest groups close to the company expect from bauverein AG, an initial stakeholder survey will be carried out in the spring together with TU Darmstadt. The results will be analysed and used as the basis for an action plan.

New advertising campaign launched

Summer sees the launch of a new advertising campaign by bauverein AG. It starts with an awareness campaign with six motifs in which the company provides information on topics such as social housing, energy-efficient refurbishment and the service offensive. An image campaign will follow in late autumn. Tenants of bauverein AG will also be photographed for the image motifs, which are intended to evoke associations with housing and appeal to all age groups.

End of large-scale modernisation

The major modernisation of "In der Kirchtanne 6" in Eberstadt-Süd took just under 14 months, and bauverein AG and tenants celebrated its completion together in October. Previously, 84 flats had been refurbished and 36 flats converted into flats suitable for senior citizens. The façade of the building was extensively renovated and given a new coat of paint in friendly colours. All of the flats have been re-bonded. The entrance area and ground floor have also become much more attractive. This is where the southern letting team is moving in. bauverein AG invested 5.9 million euros in this measure, which is part of the "Eberstadt-Süd Action Plan".

Student hall of residence opens its doors

Just in time for the 2011/2012 winter semester, bauverein AG is completing the conversion of the former administration building at Rheinstraße 63/am Steubenplatz into a student residence with 77 places. This is the company's response to the high demand for student accommodation due to the large number of first-semester students. The reason for the rush for student places is the abolition of compulsory military service and the first double A-level cohorts. Within a very short space of time, bauverein AG creates further student flats in Eberstadt-Süd by converting flats into student flats suitable for shared accommodation. As in the student residence at Steubenplatz, these places are sold out immediately.

First bauverein AG forum

In order to promote dialogue with representatives of the city and municipal authorities and to present current and future bauverein projects to them, the company invited them to the bauverein Forum for the first time in October - with a very good response.

Kirnberger Platz becomes a neighbourhood centre

As part of the "Eberstadt-Süd action plan", Kirnberger Platz in Eberstadt-Süd will also be remodelled by the end of November. The square will be divided into a play area, a seating area and a traffic area and equipped with benches. In addition, the surrounding building entrances are being renovated. In December, the social management department of bauverein AG, a caretaker's office and the neighbourhood police will move into the remodelled entrance area of Kirnberger Strasse 13.
