After twelve years at the helm of bauverein AG, Dr Hans-Jürgen Braun is to retire on 30 June. As Chairman of the Management Board, the graduate communications engineer played a key role in shaping the transformation from a municipal housing company to a modern, innovative service provider. At the end of June, the Supervisory Board appoints Armin Niedenthal as a new member of the Management Board. Sybille Wegerich will be the sole member of the Management Board until he takes over on 1 January 2016.
In February, Dr Beatrix Tappeser, State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Urban Development, hands over a funding decision for 8.9 million euros from the "Social Rental Housing" programme for the construction site in Blütenallee. A new building with 88 subsidised flats and a childcare facility is being built there.
bauverein AG surveyed its stakeholders for the second time. In 2015, a brochure will be published summarising the results and explaining the measures that have already been introduced.
In order to keep the public continuously informed about the progress of the conversion of the Lincoln estate, bauverein AG has launched a website and a flyer with information about Darmstadt's new urban quarter.
In Fritz-Dächert-Weg, the greening measures will begin in spring. Together with the nature conservation organisation BUND, bauverein AG is having the planting compacted, fruit trees planted and benches installed. The tenants were already invited to an information evening in February. The aim of the measure is to increase the quality of the neighbourhood and promote biodiversity.
At Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse 5, the major modernisation of a tower block built in 1966 begins with a tenant information event. The first step will involve the removal of harmful substances. The project is scheduled to last one year, after which all 48 flats will be re-leased.
In spring, the bauverein subsidiary BVD New Living begins with the infrastructure work. Demolition work starts in May. The housing estate is slowly taking shape.
In July, bauverein AG presents its annual report and a positive balance sheet for its 150th financial year: the anniversary year 2014 closed with a net profit for the year of EUR 17.9 million and a result from ordinary activities of EUR 21.5 million. The 2014 sustainability report is also presented with the annual report.
Around 1,000 customer households in the Pallaswiesen neighbourhood and in Kranichstein are surveyed on their satisfaction with their living environment, infrastructure and the services provided by bauverein AG.
After eleven months of renovation work, the Justus-Liebig-Garage reopens its doors at the end of November, helping to relieve the parking situation in the city centre.
Three modernised buildings in the south of the Lincoln estate will be ready for occupancy at the end of the year. A total of 54 rental flats were built here. More will follow in the first quarter of 2016.
In 2015, bauverein AG is once again sponsoring a project at the vivarium and supporting the installation of a guinea pig enclosure. In November, the tapirs will also be able to move thanks to financial help from bauverein AG.
