Sybille Wegerich's contract has been extended for a further five years. The contract will be extended early, one year before the end of the term of office, thus ensuring continuity at the top of the company.
Just over a year after the first students found a new home in the north of the Lincoln estate, the south of the 256,000 square metre site is also coming to life: After just three months of refurbishment work, 54 flats in modernised existing buildings in Franklinstrasse are being let. A further 54 flats will be added in March.
2016 is characterised by change at bauverein AG. Several areas are being reorganised; strategy projects are intended to help secure the future viability of the company. An information day will be organised for employees in March, at which all projects will be presented.
The bauverein subsidiary BVD Immobilien GmbH & Co. Postsiedlung KG is acquiring a total of eight properties from Klinikum Darmstadt GmbH. The purchase comprises 92 flats and seven commercial units as well as 37 (underground) car parking spaces in Bismarckstrasse, Kasinostrasse and Martinstrasse.
In spring, the city and bauverein AG jointly present the mobility concept for the new, car-free neighbourhood, which consists of several components (e-cars, car and bike sharing, cargo bikes, etc.), in the Lincoln housing estate. The core of the concept is a mobility counselling service that will support the residents of the housing estate in terms of mobility in future. bauverein AG regularly asks its tenants about their satisfaction with the housing company's range of products and services - now it's the turn of Kranichstein and the Pallaswiesen neighbourhood. While the friendliness of the staff was praised, many respondents saw room for improvement in terms of accessibility and modernisation. The results will be incorporated into an action plan.
People whose income is just above the assessment thresholds for social housing are finding it increasingly difficult to find a flat in Darmstadt's tight housing market. For this reason, bauverein AG is providing 20 flats in the Lincoln-Siedlung for people on average incomes. The City of Science Darmstadt is subsidising these with up to 21,000 euros per flat and acquiring the occupancy rights for ten years as part of an agreement with the housing company.
Competition number one is followed, barely a year later, by competition numbers two and three: this time, too, the aim is to collect design ideas for building areas in the Lincoln estate - in this case, however, for new construction projects on two building plots in the southern part of the estate. The winners were announced in June: Darmstadt-based Hoechstetter & Partner and Offenbach-based Pielok Marquardt Architekten. Realisation will begin in mid-2017.
The ensemble in Rhön- and Spessartring comprises 50 buildings built in the 1920s. The major modernisation of the complex, which is scheduled to take five years, will begin in July with the buildings at Spessartring 16 and 27, which will be comprehensively modernised by the end of the year in line with their listed status. The new façade colour, wooden shutters and window frames are real eye-catchers. These elements ensure that the houses once again look as they were once planned by city architect August Buxbaum.
After ten years of involvement in Saxony, bauverein AG officially sells its 49% stake in Städtische Wohnungsgesellschaft Freiberg/Sa. mbH (SWG) at the end of July. With the sale of the shares, bvag is continuing its strategy of focussing entirely on the southern Hesse region in future.
bauverein AG is also financially supporting a project of the school's own gardening group resulting from the "We are an environmental school" project week at Eleonorenschule: the construction of a leaf composting plant. Soil can be produced directly on site.
A photo exhibition dedicated to the topic of "children's rights" will open at Café BAFF in Eberstadt at the end of November. The black and white pictures were taken by a 17-year-old former pupil of the Gutenberg School. bauverein AG had the pictures framed, supported the photographer in his search for an exhibition venue - and contributed money for a current postcard project.
In order to inform employees from rental management, technology and the service centre about the reorganisation of their departments and the associated new tasks and processes at an early stage, bauverein AG is holding two information events in November and December with workshops followed by an extensive Q&A session.
bauverein AG has been a member of the "Diversity Charter" since 2014. To draw attention to the topic of diversity and to show how colourful bauverein AG really is, bauverein AG is organising a diversity lunch for the first time and inviting employees to take part in an international buffet with specialities from all over the world. The specialities are then eaten together.
