It is already visible from afar, and at the latest since the building "In der Kirchtanne 6" shines in bright yellow and orange tones - the façade colour was chosen by the residents - it is also a real eye-catcher. The tower block, which dates back to the 1960s, houses 84 flats spread over 16 floors, all of which are publicly subsidised and 36 of which are suitable for senior citizens. What they all have in common is the impressive view, which extends from some flats as far as the Frankenstein.
In 2010, the building underwent a 14-month major modernisation. In addition to an extensive renovation of the building envelope, the building services were renewed, all flats and sanitary areas were refurbished and the entrance area was redesigned: The old entrance area, which had a gloomy appearance due to the concrete roofing, gave way to a colourful, bright portal. The letterbox system located outside was relocated inside the building. A completely new entrance that benefits the building!
Since the modernisation, the building now has 36 flats suitable for senior citizens, which are also suitable for senior citizens' residential communities or accommodation for a carer. The offer is rounded off by a senior citizens' common room, which can be used for celebrations or games afternoons, for example. The office of the bauverein AG lettings team is located on the ground floor - a service that is particularly popular with older residents.
Two works of art can be found in the courtyard: a garage wall designed by children from the Gutenberg School on the theme of "Children's Rights" and a rubbish enclosure painted by the nearby "Kinderhaus Paradies". Both projects were organised and financially supported by bauverein AG.
