Schwarzer Weg retirement home

The senior housing complex in Schwarzen Weg had 209 subsidised flats before the modernisation, now there are 213, as the floor plans on the ground floor of house number 18c were also changed as part of the renovation of the outdoor facilities that began in September 2017. A service centre had been set up there in 2001, but the commercial space had been vacant for some time. These areas were converted into flats.

Between September 2017 and the end of January 2018, four barrier-free 1.5-room flats were created in the rear area facing the green spaces, covering 185 square metres. Extensive work was also carried out on the outside area and the entrance area. Both now have a friendlier appearance and have been given a much higher recreational quality thanks to appropriate planting and a newly created, barrier-free and well-lit circular path with benches suitable for senior citizens.

Finally, the fire service access road and the rubbish bins have also been adapted to meet requirements. A conscious decision was made to do away with the old containers in favour of a modern underground system. The underground waste collection system has the advantage that the collection containers are sunk into the ground and are therefore not visible. Only the waste collection column, which is fitted with a flap, is located above ground. On the one hand, this saves a lot of space. On the other hand, it ensures that the rubbish bin area looks much tidier, which increases the quality of the outdoor area. The rubbish bin is also barrier-free.
